Physiognomy Studio 1.2: Do Your Own Face Reading

Physiognomy is the art of reading faces and determining the characteristics and features of a person based on that reading. Well, it's one of those ancient arts - much like astrology and numerology - that still exist today.

Earlier, I found a free software called Physiognomy Studio 1.2 (download link at the end of this entry) which gives you the chance to do a face reading by yourself. All you need to do is open an existing photo (preferably a "face" photo) using the software then click Read Face.

Whether you believe it or not,  or whether it's true or not, it still is fun!

Why Does My Computer Boot so Slow?

It is such a pain in the neck when your computer boots rather slowly, especially when you are in a hurry to get things done on the computer. Three minutes of waiting for the computer to completely boot is already "appalling". Imagine if it takes even longer than that!

We have heard of a lot of products promising to speed-up the boot-up process of our computers. But before we dive into purchasing any of these products, let us take a look first at the root causes of the slow boot-up.

Generally, there are two reasons for this. First, there might be too many startup programs and, second, there might be registry errors.

1. Startup programs are those programs that automatically load as you switch on the computer. Some of these are found on the system tray of the desktop, while some are running in the background. The more they are, the longer the boot time.

You can disable some of these items by clicking START > RUN. Then, type MSCONFIG. The System Configuration Utility opens. Thereafter, click on STARTUP tab. You will see a list of Startup Items on the STARTUP tab and they have checkmarks before them. Uncheck those items that you wish to disable. Be careful though in disabling the items. Disable only those items that you are sure of. Otherwise, you might inadvertently disable an essential item. If you are not sure about the item, do a research by doing a Google search of the startup item.

2. Registry errors exist when some of the registry entries that have accumulated over time do not exist anymore but your registry still tries to link to these entries or files. Likewise, it could happen when some of the registry entries get corrupted.

Recover Lost and Accidentally Deleted Files

Based on my experience [so far], the video does not freeze unlike in other programs that I have used, while using only a 5.0 megapixel web camera (a camera with a lower resolution will not affect the streaming quality of the video on Skype). In other programs, having video chat is like watching a slideshow.

Just earlier, I discovered that I can maximize the functionality of Skype. As it appears, I am not confined to using Skype on video chat or the conventional [text] chat. Skype can also allow me and other people to work on a document together - and this, while chatting or on video call.

This is made possible by TalkAndWrite Basic.

TalkAndWrite Basic is a software certified by Skype that allows "the interaction of up to 10 participants working together on a common document simultaneously." This means that the participants can write, draw, erase, highlight, and add texts on a document while talking on Skype via video call or video chat.

I have been using Audacity for over a year now. So far, I am so satisfied with the program.

Audacity allows me to edit my audio files and recordings. It also allows me to add effects on my music files and recordings (fade in and fade out, noise removal, mixing music, changing pitch to make them sound like Alvin and the Chipmunks, and a lot more).

The best thing about it is IT'S FREE and there are versions available for Mac OS X, MS Windows, and Linux.
